Huawei Mate 70 Pro gets a Premium Edition with less power – KooWorldFix

Huawei introduced the Mate 70 Pro back in November with a Kirin 9020 chipset and today the company introduced a somewhat confusing alternative version. Dubbed Premium Edition it will go on sale on March 5.

The name suggests an improved version, but in reality, it has an underclocked CPU and a lower price tag on the company store Vmall.

The listing did not actually mention the chip downgrade – we caught that in a separate Geekbench listing. The Huawei Mate 70 Pro Premium Edition has a model number PLR-AL50 with 1,450 score for a single core and 3,793 for multiple cores. These are extremely mediocre results, comparable to the likes of Infinix Zero 40 midranger.

The rest of the specs appear to be the same – a 6.9″ OLED display with 120 Hz refresh rate, 50 MP main, 40 MP ultra-wide and 48 MP macro telephoto cameras and a 5,500 mAh battery with 100W wired and 80W wireless charging.

Huawei Mate 70 Pro Premium comes in Green, Purple, White, or Black. The phone has 12 GB RAM and three price tags – CNY6,199 ($850) for 256 GB storage, CNY 6,699 ($920) for the 512 GB version, and CNY 7,699 ($1,050) for the 1 TB option.

We don’t expect this phone to launch outside of China.
