The OnePlus Watch 3 has arrived for review! The new wearable was unveiled a few days ago and was supposed to start shipping at this very moment.
However, a production gaffe caused a delay to April – OnePlus wrote ‘Meda in China’ on the underside of the watch.
Luckily, this didn’t derail our review unit from arriving, so here’s a quick first look.
Like its predecessor, the OnePlus Watch 3 ships with a proprietary magnetic charger and some leaflets. The charging puck itself comes in two pieces – a USB cable, and the magnetic head – nice!
OnePlus kept the lovely and unique design of the previous generation Watch 2 but made some must-have enhancements. The biggest is the fact that the rotating crown now controls aspects of the interface, whereas before it rotated and did nothing!
The watch’s casing is still made of stainless steel and it’s still both IP68 rated for dust and water protection and MIL-STD-810H compliant to withstand temperatures as high as 70°C and as low as -40°C. It can go as deep as 50 meters underwater too.
OnePlus also made the bezel titanium. It’s still flush with the sapphire crystal display cover, which rates just above 8 on the Mohs hardness scale. You shouldn’t be able to scratch this thing easily, if at all!
The OnePlus Watch 3 has a Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 chip inside and runs Wear OS. There’s a 648 mAh battery, which gives you 5 days of normal use and 3 days of intense use with Wear OS.
Where the Watch 3 shines is in its dual-OS capabilities. The watch has a custom BES 2800 co-processor and a proprietary operating system that can extend its runtime to 16 days!
OnePlus Watch 3 is priced at $329/€349/£319. Pre-orders are eligible for a $50/€50/£50 coupon and a free pair of OnePlus Buds 3/Pro 3. The OnePlus Watch 3 is now expected to ship in April.
